And then I’ll drive you home if that’s alright

My friend the moon is out the window
Smiling at me, winking now
She knows what’s in my heart
But she won’t say ‘cause that’s how rumours start
So find you’re your clothes
And I’ll explain more while we’re in the car

You’re not the waters running free I crave
You’re temptation on the shelf, but I’m no slave
To the enemies that whistle in my head
You know that’s not for me these days

Others may choose second best
But me, I’ll sleep in empty beds
For now

But she is there
Real in my illusion
Clear beneath the moonshine

I realise where she resides
Is where she lies, behind closed eyes
For now

Emanating from your throat

And if I were to call a name aloud
Just by mistake
You’d wonder at my foreign tongue
